At the Trauma Resilience and Education Center of Greater Washington, D.C. (TREC DC), we are dedicated to providing specialized, evidence-based therapy to trauma survivors. Our highly trained clinicians use proven therapeutic approaches tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual. We understand that every person’s experience with trauma is different, and we are committed to working with you to find the best path to healing.

Evidence-Based Practice for Trauma Survivors
Our approach to individual therapy is rooted in evidence-based practices (EBPs), which are scientifically validated methods for treating conditions such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related issues. These therapies are designed to be time-limited, focusing on helping you achieve measurable improvements in your mental health.

Types of Evidence-Based Therapies Offered:

  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
  • Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE)
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

These therapies often include homework or practice work between sessions, which helps reinforce the skills and strategies you learn in therapy. For more detailed information about these therapies, please visit our resources page.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia

In addition to trauma-focused individual therapy, TREC DC offers Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i) as an adjunctive or stand-alone treatment option. Insomnia can significantly impact your day-to-day functioning, particularly when it co-occurs with trauma-related conditions.

Our CBT-i program consists of 6-8 telehealth sessions, providing evidence-based therapy designed to help you overcome sleep difficulties. Whether you struggle to fall asleep, stay asleep, or both, CBT-i can help you restore healthy sleep patterns.
