About Auzenne Deon Auzenne, preferred name “Auzenne,” is a fifth-year doctoral student pursuing his PhD in Clinical Psychology at Howard University. With a background in psychiatric nursing, Auzenne integrates biomedical knowledge with clinical psychology, focusing on the intersection of financial stress and depression in the Black community.
Educational and Professional Background Originally from Vallejo, California, Auzenne has been a licensed psychiatric nurse since the age of 19, amassing over five years of experience in California’s largest state hospitals and correctional facilities. His career as a “psych nurse turned doctor” uniquely positions him to bridge the gap between community member and healthcare provider, learner and educator, patient and clinician.
Clinical Approach and Philosophy Auzenne is passionate about delivering person-centered care that promotes health equity within his community. His extensive clinical experience, combined with his doctoral training, enhances his ability to connect with and understand the diverse populations he serves, making him a valuable asset to TREC DC.
