Therapeutic Approach
Cara understands that the decision to seek therapy can be challenging, and finding the right therapist is an important step. Her approach is centered on collaboration, warmth, and authenticity.  She believes that true healing occurs when a client is seen as a whole person and when therapy offers a sense of safety, trust, and choice. With a belief that each person is the expert in their own life, she strives to honor this by creating a strengths-based, culturally sensitive environment that considers the full scope of each individual’s experiences and identities.

Specialized Expertise
With over 10 years of experience working across various settings—including community mental health centers, hospitals, schools, and non-profit organizations—Cara has developed a deep understanding of trauma and its complex impacts.

She specializes in treating developmental trauma, sexual trauma, childhood & family of origin issues, attachment and relational trauma, grief, and interpersonal violence. Her therapeutic practice integrates techniques from several theories and evidence-based modalities to provide comprehensive care, including:
  • Attachment-Focused Therapy: A therapeutic approach that explores connections between relational dynamics learned during childhood, how they impact us across the lifespan, and what may no longer be serving us in the present.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): A powerful technique for processing traumatic memories and reducing the emotional distress associated with them.
  • Somatic Therapy: A holistic approach that focuses on the mind-body connection, helping clients process and release trauma stored in the body.

Client-Centered Care

Cara is dedicated to providing a non-judgmental, safe space where clients can explore and process the issues that bring them to therapy. She recognizes that life can be hectic, and she is flexible in her approach, welcoming feedback and encouraging open communication to ensure that therapy meets her clients’ needs.
