We are excited to share that TREC DC is now offering expanded services in sleep specific therapies such as CBT-insomnia! These services are available to any individual who experiences distress about their sleep, whether it’s related to current or past stress, habits, trauma, or unknown reasons. We can provide an evaluation of sleep concerns, followed by recommendations on next steps to address these concerns.
What is Sleep-Specific Therapy and How Can It Help?
Evaluation of Sleep-related Concerns: Our trained clinicians can help you better understand that patterns of sleep and what behaviors and habits may be impacting sleep concerns. This evaluation can help determine what therapy recommendations might be helpful to gain improved rest at night and increased energy during the day.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i): For individuals who struggle with insomnia (persistent difficulties getting to sleep and/or staying asleep), CBT-i is an evidence-based intervention that has been shown to be more effective than sleep medication (and with fewer side effects). Individuals typically experience significant sleep improvement after 6-8 weekly sessions. More information on CBT-i is on our resources page.
Who Can Benefit from Sleep-Specific Therapy?
Anyone who experiences distress about their sleep may benefit from an evaluation of their concerns and potentially a sleep-specific therapy such as CBT-i. While traumatic experiences can impact sleep, many other life circumstances and factors can impact sleep patterns and one’s distress about sleep. Please schedule a no-cost consultation to learn more about how a sleep evaluation and/or CBT-insomnia might be helpful for you!
